Wasn’t sure what intall entailed, but in the absence of instructions, I unzipped and put entire folder in Custom Scenery. Flew over Baltimore City and back; looked and functioned fine. Not obvious, however, how it differs from the old Departure Design KBWI previously sold on the X-Plane org web store. Baltimore City is very well done.

I was looking for a decent representation of both KBWI and Baltimore. I came across VerticalSimulations version and I have to say it is well beyond decent. I used to live in Columbia, MD and spent many a day up in Baltimore. I took a little VFR flight out of BWI taking it all in. It’s all there. My machine is no beast (i5-7600K running 3.8 GHz, 16 GB RAM, 6GB GTX 1660Ti) and I’m clocking 25 fps with ortho and X-Plane 11 graphical settings at High (HDR) for visual, Textures at maximum (one click less than full max), and World Objects at high . Finding this scenery on sale for $10 was outstanding… highly recommended.

My experience with what is now known as BWI goes back to 1971, when I flew into Friendship International Airport (as it was known back then) in a Piper Cherokee to take my original Private Pilot check ride. These days, I fly in and out of there mostly as a passenger, but on occasion one of my Cessna flights gets routed right overhead on the way to KFME or the like, so I know what it looks like from the ground and in the air. Both ways, VerticalSimulations has BWI covered! Even with the optional mesh, I am getting good frame rates on my otherwise mediocre computer. The airport is exceptionally well modeled and even the inside of the terminal building is very realistic, although I don’t plan to spend any time in there! I’m not normally a fan of that kind of eye candy, but it apparently does not cost frames here, so knock yourself out! If you fancy simulating being a SWA pilot, you will find no better venue than this.
